[Circle Turn 2]

Overview at turn's end.

[Protectorate Turn 2]

Kreoss upkept ‹ Sacrosanct › . He allocated 1 Focus to the Castigator and 2 to the Reckoner.

The Castigator moved towards the Circle objective, as there was only the Exemplar Seneshal left to defend it. The Choir followed the 'jack, except one who remained behind to be able to sing a hymn to the Reckoner. The Choir then sang the hymn of ‹ Battle › on both 'jacks.

In a surprising move for Bernd, the Reckoner advanced and took a shot at Kromac. Fully boosted and with the added effect of ‹ Battle › , it left the Circle Warlock with only two health points!

The Seneshal charged the Argus and crippled his body, his second sword missed.

The Knights Exemplar killed two Bloodtrackers.

Kreoss moved up and took cover behind the Castigator.

[Circle Turn 3]

Kromac did not leach Fury from the Argus who frenzied and killed the Seneshal.

Next, the Bloodtracker killed two Knights Exemplar which revived the Seneshal and left two Bloodtrackers Knocked Down.

Next, the Warpwolf Stalker charged the Castigator.

[Circle Turn 3]

He did some points of damage on him, then used two additional attacks on Kreoss for 9 and 11 points of damage which killed the Menite Caster.

Debriefing

  • Bernd (Circle of Oboros)

I think in this game Matthias and I both did the same mistake: we both left our caster in the open and too close to the enemy line. This nearly cost me the game when the Reckoner startet shooting at Kromac. That turn Kromac didn't even have any fury on him which was another big mistake. When looking at the picture [Protectorate Turn 2] you can see that Kromac could have easily camped behind the wall on my left flank with 2 Fury on him and nothing could have harmed him.

Concerning the deployment of our forces I think that Matthias should have deployed at least one warjack on his right flank. In this scenario its pretty hard to score a point and thus if you deploy your army behind your own zone then you are pretty safe scenariowise. Had his caster been positioned behind the house I could have easily killed his Castigator and would have scored a point. From there on I don't think that Matthias would have been able to stop me from scoring.

On a side note, I made exactly the same mistake in the same scenario in another game against Matthias. But there it was more obvious because I lost horribly to scenario. ;-)

  • Matthias (Protectorate of Menoth)

So close... I nearly killed Kromac in one of Bernd's rare moments where he did not anticipate a certain move... two damage points left...

Then I should have played it save and hid Kreoss behind the house, but (like I do too often, sometimes I must ignore page 5 during a game) moved my Caster too far towards the enemy... Otherwise, Bernd would have had real difficulties how to place Kromac: not too far away to effect the game and be able to leach Fury/force his 'beasts, but also not too far forward to fall prey to another shot of the Castigator's Condemner...
