[Khador Turn 4]

With most enemy models on the table knocked down, she had plenty of easy to hit targets. She cast Tempest on the Argus, hitting Laris, the Warp Wolf and Kaya as well in the AOE. The spell resulted in 4 points of damge to the Argus, 5 damage on Laris, none on the Warp Wolf and 8 points of damage for Kaya. Additionally to being stationary, these models were knocked down now as well.

To cap it all off, Sorscha shot at the Argus, dealing 9 points of damage. Then she withdrew behind the Field Gun with Windrush.

The Field Gun crew also trained their weapon on the Argus and finished him off. Kaya reaped his Fury Points.

[Circle Turn 4]

Kaya leached all Fury and upkept Forced Evolution. She forced Laris to shake both the Knock Down and Stationary effect. The Warp Wolf Stalker was also forced to shake the Stationary effect, as did Kaya.

The Gorax, who automatically frenzied due to using his animus last turn, forfeited his action to move towards the Seneshal.

The Warp Wolf warped Strength and forfeited his movement to get rid of the effects of Knoch Down. He was then forced to lock the shield arm on the Revenger. He then hacked away with his sword on the light Protectorate 'jack. With the last point of Fury allowed by his Threshold, he wrecked the Revenger.

Laris charged the Seneshal in his back arc and killed him with a boosted damage roll.

Kaya forfeited her action to cancel the effect of Knock Down and moved away from the Ziggurat.

[Protectorate Turn 4]

As the last remainin Warjack had a crippled cortex, Kreoss could not allocate any Focus.

He desperately needed to get rid of the Warp Wolf Stalker, as otherwise Cirlce would have won at the end of this turn. Matthias hardly saw a chance to accomplish this, but he had to try.

First, Kreoss popped his feat. Then he advanced to a point between the Gorax and Laris. With his initial attack he killed the Gorax, with the additional attack allowed by his Feat, he dealt 5 points of damage to Laris.

Still being on 7 Focus, he now cast Chasten three times. As the first spell hit, that damage roll was boosted, using up the last point of Focus, which dealt 5 points of damage. The second Chasten hit as well and caused 1 point of damage. The last Chasten missed.

The Warp Wolf still lived.

Debriefing

  • Björn (Khador)

The King of the Ziggurat is a real good scenario for three enemies.

Because of the points everyone collects for having the lead on the ziggurat, the two on one situation changes during battle. It has a very wide range of tactics and as always, after the battle the losers know, what to do better next time.

For my part, it would have been just a little thing, that would have taken me out of battle not so soon. Switching the Beast 09 and the Juggernaut in their position to the Wolf would have given me a jack with a reach weapon for the rest of battle. Of course no one knows, if that really would have had an impact. What I have to admit is, that I totally underestimated the Wolf and in combination with the stealth ability it is not easy to take him out before he gets you.

After the circle collected his winning score, we tried just for fun, if I would have taken Kaya out in my next turn and with average dice rolls I just failed by one damage point. But even with a bit of luck, this would have been to late, so congratulations to the well-deserved winner.

  • Bernd (Circle Orboros)

While I prefer games with two players, this scenario was a lot of fun again. What I like about it especially is that the advantage can shift from one player to another just by killing one piece of their army.

Another thing I like about this scenario is that people need to bring about the same amount of Warjack/Beast-points to the table. Normally in games with low point values, the Hordes player doesn't really have the opportunity to bring Infantry on the table because he needs the Fury. Here, the Warmachine player is restricted as well, as he needs the Warjack-points in order to win.

In this game the turning point was when Matthias tried to slam my Stalker, but missed the attack. If he caught me, the game might have turned in a different direction. But I was lucky and could save my Stalker throughout the game. Having such a fast beast and being able to move him back after attacking while still being on the objective was an advantage for me.

The only time I messed up this game was when I tried to take out the Revenger. Here, I did everything wrong. My plan was to knock him down, thus preventing free strikes when moving in his back arc and negating his bothersome shield push ability. But I didn't manage to get into his back arc and then I couldn't do a weapon lock any longer because it isn't allowed on knocked down targets. My bad. Well, another lesson learned. :) Now that the Circle has defended their ancient heirloom again, it's time for Kaya to win her first two player match! ;)

  • Matthias (Protectorate of Menoth)

That game was ruled by the Warp Wolf Stalker. Early on he destroyed half of the Khador Force by wrecking Beat 09, then he wrecked the Crusader.

Björn's troops were too slow to advance towards the Circle troops without receiving a charge before he could deliver, so he engaged me. As his first attack crippled the Cortex of the left Revenger, I had no models left to attack him.

As Bernd was leading in control points, I tried to fight him. In turn 3 I had my chance but blew it. I should just have advanced with Kreoss and popped his Feat, even though that would have made him vulnerable to counter attacks. But the move would have brought the Warp Wolf Stalker into Kreoss control area, making the slam attempt by the Revenger an automatic success. That would have slammed the Stalker into Kaya, knocking both of them down and allowing Björn an easy assassination attempt on her...

But as it was, I wanted Kreoss to attack the Gorax, which wold also have brought the Warp Wolf into his control area, freeing the Seneshal to engage another beasts. Kreoss charge lane I badly misjudged though...

Bernd played well and deservedly won :-)
