[Cygnar Turn 2]

Nemo keeps all his fury and pops his feat, giving 3 Focus to each of his warjacks. Then he advances and casts Lightning Shroud on Firefly B, followed by Energizer for 3 Focus.

Firefly B then advances towards the Pureblood, attacks and boosts damage for 14 boxes, crippling the Pureblood's Spirit. Electroleap then does 4 points of damage on the Feral.

Charger A advances and shoots a boosted shot at the Feral for 7 points of damage, crippling his Body aspect. A second boosted shot deals 2 more points of damage.

Charger B shoots at the same target, spending his 3 Focus for 2 fully boosted attacks. The feral loses 3 boxes.

Firefly A charges the Feral, boosts his attack and damange dealing 7 points of damage.

Now that both the Feral and the Pureblood are positioned between both Fireflies, the Stormcallers start to Triangulate. They deal 4 damage to the Pureblood and 6 damage to the Feral, killing him.

Now, Dani has a total of 18 Warjackpoints inside the Circle, thus receiving his first Victory Point. Wow, what an awesome turn. Will the Circle of Orboros be able to recover from that devastating blow?

[Menoth Turn 2]

Each warjack receives 1 Focus and they all run. Kreoss casts Defenders Ward on the Paladin and Immolation on Firefly A for 5 points of damage.

The Paladin advances and goes into his Stone and Mortar Stance.

Now, both Cygnar and Menoth have the same amount of Warjackpoints inside the Circle, so no one gets a Victory Point.

[End of Turn 2]

Things don't look very good for the Circle of Orboros right now. Only one heavy Warbeast is left, and only its body aspect is functional. While the Cygnars have not lost anything, its now up to the Circle to make them pay for what they suffered. Menoth has no Victory Points yet but received no damage either, thus standing quite strong.

mediaobject

[Circle Turn 3]

Kaya upkeeps Shadow Pack. She activates first and casts Forced Evolution on the Purblood, heals one point of the Pureblood's Sprit and pops her feat. Then she advances toward the backfield behind a stone.

The Pureblood activates and gets forced to regenerate one point of his mind. Now all his Aspects are functional and he can go to town! He kills Firefly B with his Initial Attacks - almost too easy. Then he teleports back to Kaya.

mediaobject

Laris activates and charges Firefly A, dealing 15 points of damage. Afterwards he teleports back as well.

mediaobject

This turn Matthias receives his first Victory Point!

[Cygnar Turn 3]

Each Charger receives 3 Focus. 1 goes to the Firefly.

Charger B takes 2 fully boosted shots at Revenger B for a total of 8 points of damage.

Charger A then takes 2 fully boosted shots at Revenger B for 6 points of damage.

Then the Firefly activates and advances in B2B with with Revenger B. Two attacks later the Revenger just laughs, shrugging off all damage.

Now two of the Stormcallers try their luck at Revenger B, but with equal success.

Matthias didn't lose any of his Jacks, so he receives one more Victory point.

[Menoth 3]

Now the time for Menoth has come to finally enter the fray of the battle. Kreoss upkeeps Defenders Ward and distributes 3 Focus to each of his Revengers. Then Kreoss advances and pops his feat.

mediaobject

The Paladin charges a Stormsmith and kills him with ease.

The Crusader activates and engages the Firefly. He only needs his open fist to wreck his light adversary.

Then Revenger A tries to charge the Charger A in the backfield, but comes too short, thus failing the charge.

Revenger B does better at charging Charger B. He attacks twice, dealing a total of 11 points of damage and destroying the chargers Battlehammer.

Another Victory Point for the Protectorate. Only 2 to go!

[End of turn 3]

Kreoss's Battlegroup got a firm grip on the site - Menoth seems to have heard the prayers of his children.

mediaobject

[Circle Turn 4]

Things looked grim for the Circle. In order to change the outcome of the fight, drastic measures had to be taken.

Kaya stops upkeeping any spells. The pureblood advances and tries to spray at Revenger A, but he is out of range.

mediaobject

Laris runs and engages Revenger A. Then Kaya uses Spirit Shift to teleport near Laris. She attacks the Revenger 5 times and cripples its Movement, Shield and Arcnode. It survives with 3 boxes left.

mediaobject

Now Kaya is out of fury. And what is even worse, I forgot to rile my beasts. So IF there is a next turn for me, i might not be able to do much. Matthias just said that it probably won't matter with his Crusader being in reach of Kaya. We'll see... .

[Cygnar Turn 4]

With only one Victory Point left for Matthias to win, it was Cygnars duty to somehow turn the tides. Dani had 8 Points of Chargers on the field, so he needed to kill any 2 of Matthias' Warjacks to stop him from scoring. But he chose a different route...

Both chargers shake off their knockdown. Charger A receives 3 Focus, Charger B receives 2.

The Stormcaller in the backfield manages to kill Revenger A while the other stormcaller misses his shot at Revenger B.

Then, charger A moves forward and shoots at Kreoss, doing 8 points of damage to him (the charger is not on the photo because he didn't want to stand on the edge).

mediaobject

The other charger moves out of the Revenger's melee range, thus receiving a free strike. Luckily, it misses. With a devasting shot at Kreoss, he manages to kill him.

Nemo then tries to shoot at Laris, but he is out of range.

Matthias was out of the game, and noone really did see this coming!

[End of Turn 4]

Well, maybe Menoth was distracted by the attacks of the Wyrm, or why else would he have let Kreoss bite the dust?

mediaobject

[Cirlce Turn 5]

Kaya takes 6 points of damage in order to receive 6 Fury.

Laris runs and engages Nemo.

Kaya uses Spirit Shift to engage Nemo. She kills him with 3 attacks.

mediaobject

The Circle of Orboros win the clash, defending their sanctum!

Debriefing

  • Circle of Oboros (Bernd)

To be honest I didn't want to play with three players again (I didn't like the turtling last time). But this scenario was a lot of fun.

In my second turn I moved my units too far to the front. I didn't think Dani would go for it, but he did and crushed my force utterly. At this point, I thought I was out of the game. And in turn 4 I thought I would sacrifice Kaya in order to keep the game going on. But then Dani managed to kill Kreoss. I didn't think that would be possible.

And all of a sudden I was back in the game and managed to bring home the victory! Very nice game and well played by Dani (it was his second game and first game with Nemo).

  • Protectorate of Menoth (Matthias)

So close... The stupid Chargers tricked me with their name, not one of them charged the whole game! Instead they assassinated Kreoss with their guns... Ok, having already fielded them myself I should have known...

The game was a lot of fun. After my third turn no one thought I would be able to loose the game. If I could have engaged the second Charger with my Revenger I would probably have managed to succeed. The dimension of gaining victory points by having more points of Warjacks/Warbeasts on the ziggurat really added to the tactical possibilities. In the Mosh Pit scenario as written, you have to be the sole contender of the control zone, which is quite difficult to archieve without wrecking at least most of the enemy 'jacks, und pushing/slamming the rest out. Going by points of models allows to specifically wreck one model to gain the upper hand and a victory point.

Moving Kreoss out of his hiding place behind the rock did not seem too dangerous, and from behind the rock his Feat would not have been as effective. And it was Dani's second game of Warmachine... who would have thought he came up with such a nice plan? But basically I again did wrong what I do since my first game: I did not protect my Warcaster and was deservedly punished for it.
