This SiFi game was played on 2009-05-26 at Matthias' place using Stargrunt II-Rules (set in ' Stargrunt II universe ') and 25mm miniatures. This report was written by Matthias.

After 2nd platoon good bloodied three days ago, the Oberkommando of the NSL troops concentrated every available asset to engage the mercenary force. On the one hand, the Oberkommando wants the raids to stop, on the other hand the Oberkommando is very interested in discovering the employee of the Free Foreign Legion.

After you sucessfully waged a guerilla war against the NSL, the NSL sent out a lot of units to end your activities. Now you need to get out of the tight spot.

Move your platoon out of the AO, avoid contact with enemy forces and get as many men out alive as possible.

 

In case contact is unavoidable, cause as many casualties as possible to fulfill your contract as best as possible.

Special Rules / Adaptions

We used the 'Complex Ambush Rules' from http://www.hyperbear.com.

The last battle ended with one FFL trooper being wounded. Before this game started, we rolled to see what happend to him. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his wound.

Execution

The FFL move along the road, eager to finish their contract and get some cool beers.

Everything is nice and quit.

3rd squad happily follows 1st and 2nd, they can already feel moist, cold beer on their lips...

Suddenly, from their right flank the FFL start to take fire. Still, they are lucky, as the NSL squad blew it, engaging the enemy before they reached the destinated ambush point. The squad is only suppressed but does not suffer any casualties.

The air fills with the sound of incoming mortar rounds, the FFL squad just fired on takes cover in the woods.

Another NSL squad revelas itself by opening up.

The 2nd FFL squad also takes fire but only suffers a suppression result.

Running around the flank, this FFL squad suddenly finds itself facing a well prepared NSL squad which immediately mowes down a third of the mercenaries.

The rest of the FFL also moves along the flank, using the hills and woods as cover.

The mortar rounds explode but far from any troops.

In the bachground, the NSL squad that blew the ambush moves behind the FFL forces to encircle them.

Before two FFL squads can combine their fire on the Jäger squads, the Jägers retreat behind the hill.

One FFL squad tries to hold up the Jäger squad at their back. The NSL takes cover in the shrubbery and takes the FFL rearguard under fire.

The NSL squad that started on the far right moves up in support.

Both sqauds take out their entrwenching tools and dig in, ready for any FFL troops.

The FFL moves up but is under constant small arms fire and another volley of incoming mortar rounds.

One of the mortar rounds lands close enough to effect the FFL.

The FFL squad moving through the wood towards the two entrenched Jäger squads is taken under fire by both. It suffers 4 casualties, the surviving squad members rout.

It looks very bad for the FFL.

Debriefing

The commader saw no way to leave the area at this well defended location, and ordered his surviving men back the way they came from. They need to look for another way out of the area...
