For the scenario description see here.
The Army group spread out, one soldier moving around each flank, the other three including the sergeant moved down the main road, not noticing the outlaws as for what they were.
As no shots had been fired yet no action was taken.
The outlaws more or less copied the movement of the Army guys, sending only one bad guy at the flank.
The outlaw leader noticed the Army guys as being opposition (probably out of bad habit than of knowing they wanted to get the Cook), and yelled at his fellow baddies to open fire.
Being surprised the first outlaw flinched his shot, but nevertheless hit the sergeant, wounding him and forcing him behind the corner into cover.
His buddy hit one poor grunt right in the chest, sending him dead on the ground.
The outlaw on the flank missed the flanking army man, but the shot was to close for comfort, sending the soldier into cover behind the church.
The Sheriff jumped up on the first sound outside and moved to a window, facing the outlaws. He brought his shotgun up, and fired through the window. The two outlaws outside fired back and the result was that one of the outlaws and the Sheriff ducked down behind cover.
The Sheriffs friend moved out the back door, but was immediately killed by an expert shot from across the street. The soldier in front of the church calmly reloaded his rifle.
The owner of the drug store let his drugs fall down, grabbed a rifle instead, and moved out through the back door as well, having heard a shot fired from there. The outlaw was quicker to react, and sent him sprawling to the floor.
The outlaw who just killed the owner of the drug store moved between the drug store and the Sheriff's office. The Sheriff saw him from his position, but his nerves still being to stressed from the shots fired at him seconds before droped down under the table.
On the main street the last soldier still visible was forced behind the church by the combined fire of two outlaws.
Still surprised by the intense incoming fire and shaken with the death of their comrade, the army guys all ducked down in cover, trying to figure out what just happened.
Only the soldier moving around the back of the stables advanced.
The first outlaw to enter the Sheriff's Office was a bit too loud in doing so, waking the deputy. He opened his eyes only to stare into a revoler's muzzle. The bullet exiting from it hit him between the eyes only a second later, toppling him from his chair.
The remaining outlaws moved under directrion of the outlaw in charge into positions around the Sheriff's office, to provide cover for the cook's extraction.
The one of them kneeling down at the edge of the jail provided a target the sergeant could barely miss. He killed him immediately.
The priest, upset that deadly force ones more haunts his town and its citizens, stepped out through the back door, grimly determined to end the use of deadly force. True to his belief "Fight fire with fire" he stepped out with his old and trusted friend called Peacemaker.
He immediately got shot at by an Outlaw. The outlaw scored a grazing wound on the priest. He was too angry though to be stopped by such a scratch, and calmly took aim at the outlaw. Being confronted with such coolness under fire and sensing the mood of the priest, the outlaw took the wise decision to get out of harm's way.
The soldier at the church moved behind it again. As he rounded the corner he saw the priest in front of him shooting at a retreating outlaw. Being armed the priest had to be removed from combat, but the soldier had pangs of remorse to kill a man of god, eben though he was armed and dangerous, so he decided quickly to hit him with the butt of his rifle to only beat him unconciousness.
As he quickly stepped up to the priest, his target turned around. Seeing the expression of the priests eyes, his rifle missed the priest who in turn did not manage to contact the heavy bible he swung with the soldiers head.
The sergeant shouted to his subordinate in front of the church to move toward the jail, obidiently the soldier ran forward. When he passed the gibbet, he spun around, falling down dead. One of the two outlaws between the saloon and the Shoe Store laughed an evil laughter.
The sergeant and the man behind the stables only slightly changed positions, to get the jail into view, readying their rifles.
The priest furiously tried to smash the soldiers head with his heavy bible, but the soldier dodged the blows, forcing the priest a step back with his counter attack.
The Sheriff got up to his feet again, and took aim at the outlaw between the drug store and the Sheriff's office. The shot hit its mark, and one outlaw less haunted the world.
The brawl behind the church continued, the soldier was still unable to knock his adversary down. The priest finally did hit the soldier with a heavy swing of the book of God. (Both charakters were left with one health point. The soldier passed two dice in the brawling test, the priest only one. This resulted in the priest being pushed back and loosing his last health point.) While being pushed back he stumbled, fell, and hit the ground with his head first. He remained on the ground knocked out. (At this point we decided that the priest would wake up again, if he menaged to roll a 1 at the beginning of one of his turns.)
By pushing the priest back, the soldier moved into the field of fire of the outlaw who dropped the soldier at the gibbet. This time the outlaw misses, the soldier returned the fire though wounding the outlaw mortally.
The sergeant and the soldier on the other flank moved towards the Sheriff's Office.
The remaining outlaw between the saloon and the shoe store wanted to revenge on the soldier who just shot his buddy. As he moved around the corner, both he and the soldier took aim, the outlaw wass a second faster and placed a round nicely in the soldiers heart.
The outlaw in the Sheriff's office grabbed the key and opened the cell door of his Cook, leading him out the back door.
The outlaw moved around to the back of the saloon, and entered it. His plan was to shoot the Sheriff into his back.
The sergeant ran across the street, trying to prevent the Cooks escape. The Sheriff noticed him and shot at him. Being well trained he hit its target. One more corpse decorated the towns's street.
The only remaining soldier heard the shots, and wanted to get at the shooter from behind. When he entered the back of the saloon, he looked directly at the back of the outlaw, who entered seconds before him. He swung with his rifle and dropped the evil guy to the ground with a split head.
The Sheriff, oblivious to the fight at his back, moved across the street towards his office.
Dusk descended on the town, soon it would be dark.
The soldier left the saloon again, and moved into the alley between the saloon and the shoe store, facing the Sheriff's office.
The outlaw moved back inside the Sheriff's office, he moved to the front window to shoot the Sheriff down. The Sheriff was quicker though and hit the outlaw with a mulitide of bullets from his shotgun. The outlaw (having a CV of 6) shrugged off the pain and shot back, killing the last of the good guys.
No charakters were left and the priest did not wake up again.
The soldier moved around the corner to get a shot at the outlaw in the Sheriff's office, but the incoming hail of fire forced him back.
The two outlaws moved out of the Sheriff's office and down the street. When they passed the alley they found the soldier waiting, his rifle trained at them. Before the outlaw was able to react he was shot and killed, leaving only the Cook standing on the street.
As only one quy was still standing, the soldier, it was a clear victory for the Army... unless the priest would wake up. Everyone stared at the dice as he rolled over the board... and showed a one! The priest woke up!
Darkness fell, and the Cook was able to escape under its cover. The last soldier returned to his fort to face the wrath of his general. The priest started to dig many graves...
The real winners of this shoot out were the outlaws back at the outlaw camp, as the Cook was able to return and feed them, thus saving them from starvation.
